Community News is the Newport Rugby & Athletics Club archive charting the history of the club and containing images of teams, committee members, sports days, and wonderfully random early 20th century images of men in plus fours skating on frozen lakes and scantily clad lads diving into dangerous canal locks! I could not have imagined when we started recruiting for this project, just how committed and engaged our group would be. But early on during training sessions, I was struck by how enthusiastic and inspired they were while also being very understanding of those unavoidable technical delays that strike when you least expect them. I am also impressed at the phenomenal amount of work they have completed in such a brief time around busy lives, actively working to block out time to contribute because they believe in the importance of this project. They all completed a registration form before gaining access to the platform, and most, when asked “tell us what you would like to get out of this project”, ticked the “to make a difference” box. This project has been met, at every request, with offers of help and support and a true sense of working together supporting individual endeavours for the greater good of the whole sector.
