Industry News magazine Why Preserve? Launching a Global Campaign on World Digital Preservation Day 2025 Advocacy Toolkit, both drawing on the voices and experiences shared through the campaign. These resources, together with dedicated advocacy training commencing in January, will equip practitioners with practical arguments and strategies to embed digital preservation more firmly within their organisations. See how others answered “Why Preserve?” and find inspiration for your own advocacy on the DPC’s website. On Thursday 6th November, the digital preservation community once again joined forces to celebrate World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD). From the first sunrise on Kiribati’s Line Islands to the last sunset west of the Americas, activities and events around the world showcased the importance of safeguarding digital assets for the future. This year’s theme, Why Preserve?, launched a global advocacy campaign led by the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC). Practitioners worldwide shared their unique reasons for preserving digital collections through blogs, vlogs and all sorts of creative contributions. Together these stories not only inspire action but also offer valuable insights that can help organisations strengthen their own digital preservation strategies.
